Gary used to work with Robert and first entered the Lawle Guby Open in 2002. The decision to invite him to enter paid dividends in 2005 when he won to deny Shandy a second victory.

He is a consistent performer and can usually be relied on to finish with a nett score of around 70. He doesn't hold many records, but in 2008 became the only player to have birdied the 1st hole.

Unfortunately, Gary has been regarded with suspicion since 2004 when he bought his mate Andy along, who proceeded to win the tournament and has never been seen since.

Trivia: Gary has a pet llama (a South American camelid, as he is fond of telling people) that lives in his back garden in Chesterfield.
