Finally made his Lawle Guby debut in 2009 after promising to play in all of the previous ten Opens. Made a discouraging start with a 10 and 9 within the first three holes, but rallied well.

Trivia: Jim is a keen gardener and owns an allotment in Hyson Green. Regularly enters flower & vegetable shows, where his 'Camberwell Carrots' are regular winners. Jim went to school with the 2001 Open winner, Simon Hampshire.
